Picture Presentation Guide

For people with ADHD, they can struggle with where they have their attention. Their teacher, boss etc. can get the perception of inattention. This can lead to the feeling that it is hard to help them learn or help them gather the knowledge they´re getting. By adjusting the picture presentation, you can make it interesting, clean and easier to follow for a person with ADHD.

Extensive explaination - Tips

  1. Prepare students beforehand a. Hand out the presentation in good time before class, so they have the possibility to implement the presentation in their notes beforehand. This can make it easier for them to focus more on and take notes from what the teacher says, instead of the picture presentation itself
  2. Beaks a. Rule: 45 minutes class = 15 minutes break. This gives the student time to use and gather new energy for next session so they can maintain focus. b. Don´t skip the break to leave earlier. When a teacher asks if they want to skip the break, so they can leave earlier, it can be challenging to be the one person to say no. Some students need the break to keep up with the class and have the strength to maintain focus. c. Have the break on the scheduled time, don´t change it. Some students have arranged their medication etc. for the specific time slot when the break is. Students also use the break as a motivation to maintain focus, so by changing it, can lead to inattention
  3. Make it interesting a. For a person with ADHD, they can maintain focus more if it is interesting. Use different learning methods when your using picture presentation, such as learning exercises. This is a great way to mix things up, help the students to learn and keep focus. By doing this, it can be experienced as an “active break”. b. But remember to keep it clean and have a red line all the way through so it is easy to follow.
